A Dateless Diary

To say that it is difficult to make plans right now is an understatement. At the same time, it is not the moment to get back into planning mode for as long as we don’t fully understand the social, environmental and economic future that awaits us. One thing we can do is to decide how to face up to the challenge ahead. Here, I am referring to the “wait and see” attitude before making any decisions about how to move forward or, alternatively, there are those who prefer to be as prepared as possible for the moment in which concrete decisions can be taken. The latter is the approach that the Federtec events commission has chosen: getting to work in order that the foundations for future events are there, that should “tomorrow” (figuratively speaking) be the day we can get back to filling our diaries, we are ready with a fully networked and interconnected system of inclusion for all associate members.
This was the starting point for the program dealing with sector analysis, for example, “Federtec meets”, whose objective is to get to know the players across important industrial sectors and understand what makes up their industrial excellence. Dates for interviews with Sacmi in packaging or Leonardo Helicopter in aeronautics have already been set up. It doesn’t stop there; we are checking availability to get together with some of the leading automotive players with whom we will look at hot topics like digitalization and 3D printing processes.Allied to this we will have a series of travelling events enabling networking across different geographical areas, focusing on sharing data and technological innovation, whether this be in the form of business days or open seminars.Another key feature will be presence at trade fairs, the perfect meeting of supply and demand in a social context. The almost complete cancellation of such events for 2020 has starkly shown us that they are not only essential as “shop windows” but equally as “moments” in which people representing the companies they work for with passion come together as a team, where all the stakeholders are present, suppliers, clients and, not forgetting, competitors. Once again, we are working with various trade fair venues, from Hannover Messe to SPS in Parma, and many more, both in Italy and abroad. Dates are being proposed but, inevitably, they remain just that, proposals not certainties. Federtec is aiming for collective collaboration among its associates, increasing visibility and creating a new form of association, enhancing the benefits for all involved. The final paradox? Our diary is full of events, the only things missing are the dates! We can’t wait to pen them in and share them with you.
