Increasingly Strong Sectoral Representation

by Assunta Galbiati, Assiot President

A new working context for new and stronger sectoral representation: this is the goal of the fusion with ASSOFLUID, already approved by the board of directors, being rubber stamped in the near future. A project aiming to give continuity to the way the two associations have put projects out into the public space over recent years. This will continue to be the case as new members join, emphasizing the individual identity of each one, while at the same time, generating added value thanks to synergy through the diversity of technology involved. In such a context, a moment of reflection is necessary: if the association role of supporting its sector has remained substantially unchanged over the years, the way in which it carries this out has to be continuously updated according to changes in the sector itself. This is indeed a sector of manufacturing excellence where customization is the hallmark of many producers. The Galbiati group, which I head, is a great example of this. The problem is that we are all too often unable to take concrete advantage of this. Italians have an innate ability to understand a problem, putting themselves in the client’s position and developing industrial solutions which are a global success. Getting this message across must be fostered. We have to believe in these abilities in order that the client is equally convinced, including, of course, the eventual economic aspect. Italy’s competitiveness and position as a world leader in this market are at stake. There is an epochal change afoot where adequate know how is a fundamental corner stone to meeting the challenge. For this, people and technology are essential. This is why re-qualification and skill set updates are a priority. We need to act now to develop the skills needed for tomorrow. In terms of training, the role of long standing associate members can be crucial in sharing experience. We must overcome individualism and find solutions that meet common needs. In other words, training programs which are shared among associates, making optimization of resources and benefits to the entire sector two key pillars. I repeat what I’ve already said: I intend to give continuity to the proposals and the projects the two associations have carried out so far. I also wish this section to continue as a ”shared contribution”. Therefore I’m pleased to give the floor to Elisa Brescianini, the newly elected member in ASSIOT Managing Board who, in her turn, will invite the next “speaker” to do the same.
